Why another language?
Why Spanish?
Why Ositos Cool?
Why another language?
Research shows that bilingualism has many benefits for children and adults. Learning another language is not only fun, it is also good for you. Children can have an academic advantage compared to their monolingual peers. Bilingualism also helps children with their problem solving skills. In adults it can improve competitiveness in the job market and make traveling more enjoyable.
Why Spanish?
There are more than 572 million Spanish speakers in the world or almos 7.8% of the population. This means it is is a language that is very versatile and there are plenty of opportunities and countries to practise. Also Spanish is actually very similar to the English system. Much of the grammar, vocabulary and structure are the same, so it is relatively easy to learn for an English speaker.
Why Ositos Cool?
OsitosCool started in 2000 as a playgroup organised by like minded parents. In 2013 it evolved to become a Spanish school for kids and have been teaching Spanish in Canberra since then. We have expanded to programs for adults and we have taken a broader role as a community organisation that promotes Latin American language and Spanish Language. We are still run by parents for parents and we hope to continue with this project for many years to come.
